Swarm of Eyes Begin Writing For New Album

Little more than a year following the release of their debut, Swarm of Eyes has begun writing songs for a new album.  The band’s first album, Designing the Dystopia, featured the songwriting talents of lead singer Randy Carter, guitarist Derrik Albertelli, and guitarist / producer George O’Connor.  The as-yet-to-be-titled new album will include bassist Jeff Grossman and drummer Tommy Burke in the writing and recording process, as well.

“We have the basis for the first new song in two years. George put down some killer riffs into a rough demo with some programmed drums for us to all listen to, and we should be jamming on it over the next couple of weeks,” said vocalist Randy Carter.

It remains to be seen how soon SoE will incorporate their new song as part of their live repertoire.  The band has been playing a steady stream of gigs throughout the New England area and plans to hit major cities along the East coast later this Fall.  Check out the band’s Tour page to see where they are playing next or drop the band a line on Facebook to let them know you’d like to see them play your city!

Swarm of Eyes Delivers a Night of Old School Metal to O’Brien’s in Allston

Even with a scant 12 days’ notice, Swarm of Eyes churned out a heaping helping of good, old fashioned metal at O’Brien’s in Allston, MA on May 26th. It was an old school night replete with camo shorts and black t-shirts — not to mention ear-melting riffs from not just Swarm of Eyes, but Splatter Effect, Apollo’s Resurrection, and Give Zombies The Vote, who also gave a clinic on everything metal should be.

Swarm of Eyes’ cover of The Misfits’ “Skulls” is fast becoming a crowd favorite, with most in attendance singing along.

Swarm of Eyes would like to thank Give Zombies the Vote for inviting them to play the show. The band was happy to meet and make so many new fans and friends at O’Brien’s and hopes everyone had a great weekend honoring the memory of our soldiers.

Swarm of Eyes Rocks Ralph’s in Worcester

This past Saturday May 5th at the legendary Ralph’s Rock Diner in Worcester, Swarm of Eyes gave (according to lead singer Randy Carter) “the hands-down best show we’ve ever played” (which, coming from Randy, is like saying “Hey! I almost passed the 5th grade!”).

Ralph’s was packed to near-capacity for The River Neva’s release party and video shoot for their single, “Night of the Long Knives.” Swarm of Eyes joined such bands as Acaro, Sabado Gigante, Seven Minute Stagger, and The Black Heart Epidemic in performing live at the release party celebrating The River Neva’s debut disc, Chemistry of Holocaust.

Swarm of Eyes played a solid set, highlighted by a brutal mosh pit during the song “Warzone,” which is fast-becoming a live crowd favorite. The Eyes guys were joined onstage by Acaro’s Chris Harrell on their cover of “Skulls” by The Misfits and (again) on a cover of The Ramones’ classic, “Blitzkrieg Bop.” Karen Gizzie of Still Aggravated also joined Harrell and Swarm of Eyes on “Blitzkrieg Bop,” the band’s final song of their set.

Throughout the night, The River Neva raffled off numerous prizes, including a Schecter guitar and a Swarm of Eyes t-shirt/CD combo package.

It was a tremendous night of not just great, new, original music by an extremely talented group of bands, but the support these bands on the New England scene have for one another is even more astounding. Swarm of Eyes was happy to be a part of such a terrific show, and for all of the new fans and friends they met and made that night.

Swarm of Eyes looks forward to playing for their fans at a string of upcoming shows which have been slated for the summer months ahead. New dates can be found on the band’s tour page — with a more surprises and details to come! Stay tuned!
