Swarm of Eyes’ Bassist & Guitarist Are Super-Powered. Thanks For Asking!
It’s been a busy couple months for the Swarm of Eyes guys. In addition to playing several killer gigs, the guys have been hard at work on new material, side projects, and developing super powers.
You heard that right: Super. Freakin’. Powers.
We’re not sure how it happened, but sometime in between slaying audiences at the Spotlight Tavern and brutalizing the Brighton Music Hall in Alston, Derrik and Jeff developed super powers.
And with great power, comes great responsibility.
Move over, Superman! One side, cheeseball Cyclops! Derrik’s got laser vision now! Look out world!
Jeff recently manifested telekinetic powers and the ability to lift small-to-medium objects. Economizing time by eating and performing on stage is now on the menu.
Speculation as to how our stoic guitarist and martial arts-master bassist acquired said powers still swirls. We think it may have happened after they got too close to another band’s amp that was glowing green and then stepped in the Taco Belch burrito residue that Nervous Stomach Randy power-vomited up in the parking lot before the show. (Side note: Holy run-on sentence, Batman!)
The origins of these powers remain uncertain, but ultimately, Derrik emerged with laser vision and Jeff can now levitate small-to-medium-sized objects. (Unfortunately, this will not come in handy when it comes to loading and unloading Swarm of Eyes’ stage gear. Bummer, man.)
Although their superpowers have only served to enhance their charismatic stage presence and devastating, superhero-esque handsomeness, Derrik and Jeff remain humble as ever, choosing to use their powers for good. Or at least Neutral Good, in the parlance of Dungeons & Dragons terminology. Derrik has expanded his roster of hobbies to include a burgeoning interest in home welding projects, while Jeff has taken to upping his iron intake by telekinetically lifting delicious meatball subs into his mouth without need of a paper plate.
